The map separates first and second cycles, with basic, professional and integrating subject areas. It requires completion of the first cycle before moving to the second. Read these progression conditions alongside course prerequisites; a long list of attractive later subjects is not a freely reorderable timetable. Inspect the full map.
The programme listing names San Nicolás de los Garza, Linares and Cadereyta sites. It also requires social service, a degree exit examination and institutional English development for completion. An English requirement does not establish English-medium delivery, and “mixed” should not be interpreted as attendance-free study.
A useful comparison asks what remains after the first programming language. Look for work with mathematical structures, data organisation, systems and the design of a maintainable solution. If your preparation has focused on making a small script run, add a written explanation of its inputs, assumptions and failure cases. That creates a bridge from a working example to an argument another person can inspect.
A real initial teaching outline
UANL’s common initial-disciplinary outline for Metodología de la programación was updated in September 2024. It develops algorithms, flowcharts and pseudocode through sequential and conditional problems, repetition, arrays and modular solutions. Its integrated task includes a documented solution, not merely executable output. This is an actual university teaching example aligned by course name; it is not proof that every mixed-mode cohort uses an unchanged weekly guide. Read the published outline.
When evaluating your own readiness, separate understanding a rule from remembering syntax. A short trace table can reveal that a condition was wrong even when the code has no syntax errors. Explain what should happen at a boundary value and why. That habit is especially useful when two plausible interpretations produce different answers.
The January 2027 competition has dated steps
The current central competition covers January–June 2027 entry. Registration ended on 12 October 2026, already past on this guide’s 17 October check. The in-person EXANI-II examination is scheduled for 7 November. Selection depends on scores and faculty capacity, followed by definitive registration requirements. Applicants must use the participating-school directory and the applicable faculty instructions; the future examination date does not reopen registration. Read the actual competition rules.
Keep the intended site and mode beside your programme choice. Then distinguish your school-completion evidence from your examination record and from any faculty requirement. These documents answer different questions. Saving a screenshot of a course list would not establish that you completed the correct admission sequence.
Original exercise: test the boundary condition
Take the fictional list 4, 7, 7 and 9. The task is to count values strictly greater than 7. Start a counter at zero, inspect each value and increase the counter only when the condition is true. The result is one, because only 9 qualifies.
Now change the wording to “at least 7.” The answer becomes three. The data did not change; the rule did. Record both traces and explain the difference before choosing a programming language. Finally test an empty list: under the stated counting rule its result is zero. This original exercise checks a specification and boundary cases. It is not a copied UANL task, a complete course assessment or evidence of advanced programming proficiency.
