This guide focuses on painting and visual art, alongside digital design, illustration, mixed media and collage. It connects the chosen medium with a particular creative purpose.
Move from an idea to a composition
Explore an idea through brushwork, colour and the arrangement of elements. Keep a sketch, colour study or planning record beside the developing work so the decisions can be explained. A review can then identify a choice and relate a proposed change to the intended purpose.
The Cultural Management and Planning guide adds context for organising a creative project and its resources.
Distinguish media and tools
Painting, collage, mixed media and digital illustration involve different materials and working choices. Name the medium and task instead of promising universal digital mastery. Compare how the medium serves the idea and which aspect is being reviewed. Certificates, showcases, software access and schedules need their own current information; they are not established by a topic outline.
The V&A Paintings collection offers museum examples for visual-art discussion. It supports contextual comparison of paintings without establishing a current INTIAU course, a particular design technique or access to the museum’s collections.
