Sungkyunkwan University’s Statistics bachelor’s programme is in its College of Economics in Seoul, independently of INTIAU. The departmental introduction describes three educational tracks: Statistical Theory, Statistical Methodology and Applied Statistics.

The programme aims to develop a theoretical foundation together with the ability to analyse real data and write reports. Its scope connects statistics with fields including economics, business, administration, social sciences, life sciences and natural sciences.

The questions are an editorial reading framework, not quoted learning outcomes. Use them to annotate a current plan: distinguish a mathematical argument from a calculation and from its interpretation. A result can be computed correctly yet still be unsuitable for the question or the observations available.
Selected actual entries in the course catalogue
The department-linked course catalogue lists Statistics in Python, ISS 3233, as a three-credit bachelor’s course in English. Its description includes sampling, distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, regression and categorical data, alongside programming, data management, data formats and types, graphics and modelling.
The catalogue also includes Principles of Statistics, STA 2011, and Introduction to Stochastic Processes, STA 3021. The latter is displayed with availability “No” in the reviewed listing. These are selected catalogue entries, including offerings from different teaching contexts; they are not all being represented as compulsory Statistics major requirements or guaranteed current classes.
English entries do not establish an entirely English-taught degree. Consult the course’s language and availability fields and the relevant registration schedule; a catalogue description is not a personal place in a class.
For a practical course comparison, create a short evidence grid with the course code, prerequisite knowledge, expected output and language. Keep a separate column for whether it counts toward the intended degree category. This avoids confusing the availability of a broad university offering with its contribution to one student’s major.
Original exercise: the mean needs a definition
Consider two fictional tutorial groups. A has ten observations with mean 8; B has thirty observations with mean 4. The pooled mean is (10×8+30×4)/40=5. A simple average of the two means is 6, which gives each group equal weight despite their different sizes.
Now define a different question: the average of the two group summaries, with groups deliberately weighted equally. For that question, 6 is the requested quantity. Explain the difference between an average observation and an equally weighted average group. Neither number should be chosen merely because it looks preferable.
Write the target quantity and weights before calculating, then check the arithmetic from the stipulated totals. The records are invented; no student data, survey or external dataset is needed. This is an original self-study exercise, not an SKKU assignment.
Applicant evidence and access limits
The official Spring 2027 undergraduate freshman notice, dated 10 July 2026, lists the relevant admission guide and subsequent updates. Its notice was readable in the native public browser, but the anonymous English attachment retrieval returned 404 during this review. The full guide’s Statistics eligibility, track language and deadlines were therefore not verified here.
Do not substitute an exchange, graduate or preliminary-offer notice for the intended freshman route. Ask the admissions office for the applicable complete guide and confirm the exact major and teaching track before preparing documents. A current entry-year label alone does not say whether an application period is open.
