Université catholique de Louvain is separate from INTIAU. Its economics and management bachelor at Louvain-la-Neuve comprises 180 credits over three years. The 2026–2027 catalogue identifies French teaching with English activities. This guide concerns ECGE1BA, not a similarly named programme at another campus.
Read the annual blocks as a developing curriculum
The annual-block plan directs students who started before 2025–2026 to the 2024–2025 reference. It also says blocks 2 and 3 may change. The following selection condenses the displayed sequence; it does not reproduce all requirements.
| Stage | Selected published components |
|---|---|
| Block 1 | Economic sociology, political economy, accounting, mathematics and statistics. |
| Block 2 | Microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, marketing and language study. |
| Block 3 | Human management, finance and law; some other displayed units are marked unavailable in 2026–2027. |
A useful comparison begins with the relationship between subjects. Accounting asks how an organisation records and presents transactions; an economic question may instead concern incentives or market behaviour. Do not decide that two degrees are interchangeable because both contain a finance course. Compare the compulsory quantitative work, the room for another discipline and the point at which a choice becomes possible. Keep the required and optional columns separate when building your own comparison sheet.
Make a comparison sheet with three separate headings: compulsory study, genuine choice and evidence still needed. Under the last heading, record the exact prerequisite or availability question you would ask an adviser. This produces a usable decision record without turning a list of interesting course names into a proposed personal timetable.
A selected course: economic relationships
The 2026–2027 Sociologie économique outline identifies a six-credit French course in the first quarter, with no prerequisite. It examines the social relationships underlying organisations and markets, including regulation, conventions, values and the relationship between economic activity and environmental limits. This is an actual course outline; the table above is only a programme selection.
For preparation, write two explanations of the same business choice. The first should specify an objective, information and a numerical comparison. The second should ask how relationships, rules or access to resources shape the feasible choices. The point is to notice when a calculation depends on assumptions that the calculation itself cannot establish. This reading task helps distinguish an interest in economics from an interest only in business news.
Match the applicant category before assembling documents
The bachelor admission rules distinguish Belgian secondary credentials, recognised foreign equivalents and automatically recognised European or International Baccalaureate routes. French proficiency and other eligibility conditions also apply. The page gives additional profile-specific rules, including non-EU categories; a diploma name alone does not resolve the applicable category.
Use UCLouvain’s official registration request route. This review was checked on 17 October 2026 alongside the 2026–2027 catalogue; no future application deadline is established here. Consult the registration service about your own credential and category before relying on a calendar from an earlier intake.
Try an original decision comparison
Imagine a fictional cooperative choosing between two delivery arrangements. Arrangement A has a fixed monthly cost of 240 units and costs 2 per delivery. Arrangement B has no fixed cost and costs 5 per delivery. For 100 deliveries, A costs 440 and B costs 500. At 80 deliveries they both cost 400; below 80, B is cheaper under these assumptions.
Now suppose A requires members to provide unpaid coordination time, while B does not. The numerical break-even point has not changed because the calculation has not priced that time. Write down who supplies it, whether every member can do so and which objective the cooperative is actually pursuing. A defensible answer states the 440 versus 500 comparison, then identifies the omitted commitment rather than announcing that A is simply the better social choice. These invented numbers are a study exercise, not university teaching material.
Questions about the route
Is this an English-only bachelor?
No. The catalogue identifies French teaching and English activities.
Is the displayed later-block plan final?
No. The catalogue explicitly warns that blocks 2 and 3 may still change.
Does the selected sociology course require an earlier course?
The 2026–2027 course record states no prerequisite.
