The Bachelor of Business Administration belongs to the National University of Singapore, a separate institution; it is not an INTIAU programme or partnership.
NUS describes a four-year direct Honours BBA with nine majors and a period of exploration before major declaration.
For a prospective business student, the useful question is how general business understanding turns into a defensible decision. Compare the common foundation, the depth of a chosen field and the opportunities to apply ideas. A list of attractive job titles tells you much less about that learning process.
Read the correct cohort rules
The official AY2026/27 onwards curriculum requires 160 units. Its applicability text also references entrants from AY2024/25 and students who switched from AY2023/24. Check your cohort rather than assuming the page title creates an entirely new degree.
Put the cohort label beside every requirement you record. Distinguish a requirement group from an individual course, and a graduation milestone from an optional experience. When comparing two degrees, use the same headings even if the universities organise their websites differently. This makes an apparent difference in terminology easier to investigate.
| Layer | Published element | Question for your comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Common curriculum | 52 units, including general education, business environment and experiential milestones. | Which unfamiliar perspective would challenge my preferred explanation? |
| Major foundation | 24 units of business-function courses. | Can I connect numerical evidence with organisational decisions? |
| Major depth | Restricted courses and a compulsory capstone. | What would count as a well-supported final recommendation? |
| Elective space | Unrestricted choices; allocation varies by major. | Would breadth or further depth address my main learning gap? |
The 2026 sample plans are illustrative, not fixed timetables. They place major declaration before the fifth semester and show how prerequisite sequences and experience milestones affect planning.
Inspect one actual course outline
ACC1701A, Accounting for Decision Makers, has a semester-one 2026/27 outline. It introduces financial reporting for investors and managers, elementary account preparation and financial-statement analysis. The outline explicitly distinguishes this section from other ACC1701 variants.
That distinction matters when comparing assessment. Read the exact course code, section and semester before transferring a percentage or task description into your notes. Ask what a student is expected to do with information: reproduce a procedure, explain an interpretation, or defend a recommendation. Do not combine several sections into an imaginary universal syllabus.
Application planning, checked 17 October 2026
The BBA entry page directs international applicants to NUS admissions. For IB examinations from May 2021, it specifies a pass in HL MAA, SL MAA or HL MAI; Business Studies is not an entry prerequisite.
For the May 2027 IB session, the official IB applicant page gives 16 June 2027 for the personal-code update and 6 July 2027 for NUS to receive the released transcript. These are document milestones, not the application closing date.
Choose the admissions category matching your actual qualification and result session before recording a deadline. Keep application submission, document delivery and offer response on separate lines. A requirement stated for one qualification should never become a universal entry threshold. This guide does not claim that the next application window is currently open.
Original activity: a small-enterprise decision file
Invent a small repair service with two possible changes: longer opening hours or a new booking system. Use a clearly fictional spreadsheet with revenue, staff time and running costs. Write the assumptions first. Change one assumption at a time and record when your preferred option changes. You are investigating the quality of an argument, not forecasting a real investment.
Then write three short memos on the same decision: one about customer needs, one about capacity and one about cash timing. Underline the claim in each memo that needs better evidence. Compare two university curricula by asking where you would learn to address those gaps. Keep this as an independent exploration exercise; it is not a NUS admission task, case assignment or business recommendation.
Frequently asked questions
Must I already have studied business at school?
Business Studies is not a prerequisite on the BBA entry page. Qualification-specific mathematics and other admissions requirements still apply.
Is the sample plan my guaranteed timetable?
No. NUS labels it a sample; course sequencing and milestone plans require individual checking.
Does one accounting outline cover every section?
No. ACC1701A’s outline states that other ACC1701 variants may use different teaching, topic sequences and assessments.
